Local charity Homeless Oxfordshire has partnered with Uncomfortable Oxford for Women’s History Month 2026 to organise a fundraiser in aid of the Her Way Home appeal.
Make a donation and join a tour to help us combat homelessness in Oxford. While traditional tours often highlight the landmarks and beauty of Oxford, Uncomfortable Oxford takes a different approach. The tours aim to shed light on the lesser-known aspects of its history, bringing attention to uncomfortable truths, social injustices, or historical events that are often overlooked or forgotten about. We put a spotlight on unheard voices and marginalised perspectives, especially the stories of women through time.
Her Way Home Campaign
As a charity that supports people experiencing homelessness in one of the most expensive places to rent in the country, we share many values with Uncomfortable Oxford. We’re proud to be partnering with them for Women’s History Month as part of our Her Way Home campaign – giving women in Oxfordshire a safe route out of homelessness.
“We’re so glad to be working with Uncomfortable Oxford again for this fundraiser tour. The organisation works to highlight the issues and injustices that have impacted the lives of many of the people we support,” says Liza Clothier, Head of Fundraising & Communications at Homeless Oxfordshire. “Telling these often hidden stories helps to create understanding and compassion – things we always need more of.”

Power, Women, and Queer Histories Tour
Taking place on Saturday 14 March at 2pm, the Power, Women & Queer Histories tour will walk guests through the city, from Radcliffe Observatory Quarter to the Lamb and Flag Passage and back to St Mary’s Church. Together, tour participants will uncover stories of those who are often left out of traditional narratives of Oxford: women, people of colour, and LQBTQIA+ individuals.
Led by Oxford University researchers, this guided journey will highlight the many ways women and queer people have historically impacted the city of Oxford. The tour reveals the complexities of navigating university research and family life, uncovering unknown trailblazers, and discussing queer experiences in the city.
Olivia Durand, Research & Partnerships Director at Uncomfortable Oxford, says they are “delighted to be partnering once again with Homeless Oxfordshire.”
“As a community interest company, Uncomfortable Oxford has always approached its walking tours as a means of creating social impact. We open up conversations about complex historical legacies and the ways they continue to shape our present. Among these legacies is the entangled history of wealth, class, and gender in Oxford.
“Uncomfortable Oxford is delighted to be partnering with Homeless Oxfordshire to offer its Power, Women, & Queer Histories walking tour as a fundraising event. This collaboration is especially meaningful, as it shines a light on often-overlooked dimensions of homelessness – particularly the experiences of women – while supporting a campaign dedicated to healing, dignity, and hope.”
