Formerly called the Hidden Histories Tour.
Unearth the overlooked stories of Oxford’s past, focusing on the dynamics of power, women’s history, and LGBTQIA+ individuals who have been left out of the traditional narratives. This women’s history tour and Queer history tour of Oxford will bring alive the struggles and strengths of women and queer people who broke the mold and left a lasting impression on both the city and University of Oxford.
This guided tour through Oxford reveals how women have historically navigated academic spaces and family life, explores the shaping of masculinities by the university, and delves into queer experiences within the city. Together, we’ll analyze Oxford’s urban landscape, discuss gendered geographies, and challenge societal expectations.
Led by expert university researchers trained through our Uncomfortable Oxford program, this tour offers an engaging and educational experience.
The Power, Women, and Queer History Tour is a family-friendly activity recommended for audiences age 12 and up.
