WE ARE UNCOMFORTABLE OXFORD

Uncomfortable Oxford is an academic-led organisation and certified social enterprise providing a number of services. We research and design educational walking tours for the public that focus on histories of empire, gender, race, class inequality, wealth distribution, disability, and other topics which are often overlooked in traditional narratives. We also provide talks and workshops for a variety of audiences.

In addition to our public engagement work, we collaborate with a number of professional and academic organisations to undertake research, sensitivity consultation, and digital resource development.

Commissions

We collaborate with museums, universities, institutions, and private clients to create bespoke experiences and partner on research projects such as the Oxford Health Histories Project.

Our expert guiding team are all researchers specialising in a broad range of subjects. They approach their work through the lens of equity and diversity, celebrating untold narratives and going above and beyond to platform ignored voices. Our tours are the perfect team building activity. They offer a fun and engaging method of tackling the more complex issues we face today.

Additionally, they can provide talks based on their own research, or work with organisations to conduct sensitivity reviews, offering insights and recommendations to enhance representation and fairness. Elevate your organisational activities by getting in touch to book a tour or discuss a commission.
